I think it would be better if Jochem would join projecthoneypot.org they have a module that plugs right into the web server to check the IP of a visitor against a their blacklists. It will filter these comment spammers right out. Their lists be good.

SVP, edit your link. Remove the s from your http. This is a good suggestion. Way back, he used to use a counter that had all that info. It wasn't Modigo, I think it was ExxtremeTracking or something. Twas a dutch stats site, and it had all that info built-in.

Most providers will give you the option to close the account somewhere. Usually they are forced by law to provide you with an option to completely remove all of your information if you so request. Sometimes they hard to reach or technically inept or just generally unwilling, and you have to call or e-mail them with that request.

After your account is closed, all email servers trying to send you a message will be informed that the account is no longer active and that the message can not be delivered. Usually a good indication for them to stop sending stuff. Except of course spammers. They don't seem to care about wasting resources and sending stuff to dead accounts. Most of the time they use other people's resources anyway by hacking and setting up bot nets. So they don't mind. And your e-mail address is lost for ever.

or at least until someone in that scene gets the bright idea that small e-mail lists with good e-mail addresses are worth more than the ones with lots of dead addresses. But I think that will take a few more years of wasted resources. I guess even smart criminals are not all that smart after all

Here is a free tip from DaHackit.. The more resources you waste in a short period, the easier it becomes for admins to detect you and shut down the machine for ''maintenance''.Leaving you bot net kiddies to search for another machine. So that means that even other peoples resources can cost you money. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

This bookmarklet doesn't work on this website. So I am unable to shoot at any bugs. Browser is Chromium 6.0.472.63 Also, it doesn't have an icon. Is it working on here with firefox? IT is a pretty cool little widget though.

Bug report. hehe. well, the site doesn't say anything about it. but the thing with bookmarklets like these is that they don't really work well with frames and iframes. and you might not see it very easily, but this page is framed. Go to the link below to try it. I tried with firefox works good for me. I've seen someone try it in IE and fail, but I hear it's supposed to work. The author is probably interested in the bug report too :)
