sorry it was very confusing in the sink .. here is the last glimpse I had of the runt of the brood as it hopped over my fence one last time about 5 pm. I haven't seen any of them since, but Betty gave me a nod and a wink this morning. Her nest is a bit shitty and broken at the back, so maybe she won't use it again. I do miss saying hi to her whenever I am at my sink. : (

intrepid adventurers. This morning all of them have left the nest, but none of them can fly yet !!!!! They are rambling about in my backyard with Mom and Dad popping worms in their mouths while they chirp quite loudly. They won't keep still, like youngsters everywhere. They are great to watch though!

I watched all three of these guys fly over the wall and out of my courtyard .. BUT .. less than an hour later, they are all back, sunning themselves !!! Has anyone else ever observed this behaviour in birds? btw .. Betty and Bob are still dancing attendance on them too.

back in September Betty (blackbird) and beau Bob laid three eggs in the flower box just outside my kitchen window. All three hatched, but sadly, only one made it to 'fly away' stage, but now, she has laid another four and is going for a second batch. I think its very exciting, so stay tuned for further pictures.
