brood 10 was supposed to make an appearance this year in full force here on long island...haven't seen a single one of the little chirpers . . . is it the birds feasting on them? pesticides? i dunno... for some reason i was looking forward to seeing this 17 year cycle come to fruition, and NOTHING...can't rely on anything nowadays, not even the damned cicadas...sigh...
