is ''real life'' what you do, or what you remember having done?

To Elling.
i dont know Elling, 16 Aug 2009 06:54
sometimes even the concept of reality seems ridiculous to me...im not just saying that, i mean it...a load of chemical reactions in a squishy thing in my head which causes perceptions for a few years then i'm dead for infinity, absoloutley nothing, you could all just be a figment of my imagination, and if youre not you may aswell be...like im really alone, i just build temporary 'relationships' with hallucinated temporary beings in my microscopic 'existence' the whole universe and all its facts could just be some intricate hallucination in my mind which might not even exist...now i think the idea of existence is just bizarre

provisionally pointless Ppint, 17 Aug 2009 05:30
pure solipsism has the virtue of being internally self-consistent - which is fortunate, because it would not appear to possess any other virtue. it may sometimes be entertainingly expressed, but generally is not - and continued adherence to it renders conversation impossible.

wow everything has a definition... Elling, 17 Aug 2009 19:59
yeah the article basicly illustrates my point, except im not certain of it so i wouldnt torture others for my own gain, and i try not to think about it too much cause i get what i think would be defined as existential crisis...ish

on the origin of intelligent species Ppint, 08 Aug 2009 01:50

is intelligent organic life simply the means of spreading robotic intelligence to every part of the universe chosen as perhaps a slower, but ultimately the most reliable method by the original creator robot?

that depends...tag.here Ppint, 12 Jun 2004 22:58
i invented two or three new forms of she/he/tag/it at summerside (the school i went to from age 5-11) (not that no-one else ever invented these, but they were independant inventions); some were simple, like ''chain he-on-the-lines''; some were a lot more involved. in most of them, the game ended when _everyone_ was ''it'' - so no-one ever got left with being the one apart.
did you not do the same, ever?

games of ''it'' or ''he'' Ppint, 17 Jun 2004 08:55
the uk names of chasing games played the world over. one person is ''it'' (or ''he''..) and chases the others within the play area - a school playground? - until they catch and touch one of them, who is now ''it'' until _they_ catch and ''tag'' another player, etc. - or the bell (or whatever) sounds to end the play period.
that's the basic game; there are lots of variations, such as ''shadow he'', and ''chain he'', some of which are quite elaborate; and there's an associated body of arcane lore covering how to cope with various aspects, such as whether ''no having back'' does or does not automatically apply unless explicitly varied.
the author of this wonderful website commented that they were always the one left ''it'' when the bell went - and did we/i never think about the fate of the people left ''it'' forever? [it's an excellent website for unsuspected nooks and crannies], and i thought back to my schooldays, when i played such chase games.
didn't you ever play them?

hi; i run the fantasy, sf & horror books, boardgames & role-playing games shop in lancaster; are there any good beetley, buggy &/or insecty games i should stock? Furry Pirates RPG isn't exactly insectiferous (do not confuse with insectivorous!), but that & TNMT&OS RPG are about as close as i get - at the moment. can you help?
