Yes, feeling welcome really is the best thing. You are gentle and sweet. I do hope you have many good days ahead of you!

Just in case you don't know, here you can reply to a post by selecting the hollow circle in the front of the title of that post.

Ohhh! I see! Thank you Farfrost! I get it now!
Years ago, here in the States, most neighborhoods had a committee called The Welcome Wagon. They came to your house and gave gifts and let you know the vibe of your new community.
I officially appoint you as the head of the Welcome Wagon to Bug chat! You Rock!

I’m a bug once again… Tesstostheresa, 30 Okt 2023 08:11
Have I morphed?
Happy to be here and not in the sink. That was a dangerous situation…

Cheers for our new friend who escaped the sink :^)

Hi Tesstostheresa, Sjeu, 31 Okt 2023 12:11
Good to see you :- ) I Like your new chosen outfit!
Can I just ask, are you dutch? Did we meet (long time ago) at a nobodyhere-meeting in Utrecht?

To Tesstostheresa
Hey there! Tesstostheresa, 31 Okt 2023 20:33
Hi Sjeu,
Thank you for the compliment! Stripes are in for the Fall!
No, I am not Dutch. I’m American. I live in Silicon Valley. We may have met a million years ago in the sink. ?
I’m jealous that you guys had a meet up in Ultrecht! What was that like?! Cool!
Thank you for the the article you shared. Yes, it was disturbing. Is it art? I thought the same as you- what if this were a human being… well, anyway, nice to say halo to you!

To Sjeu
We may have met in the sink before :- ) Sjeu, 31 Okt 2023 23:05
Long time ago there have been 3 Nobodyhere-meetings and 2 of them where in Utrecht where I live.

The first and most iconic meeting (summer 2003; great food, a cosy campfire and a sleepover) was in Zeeland and that one was hosted by Kreeft, a lovely woman who used to visit the Dutch side.

Attendees where a mix from the English and Dutch side. With some folks from the Netherlands, Belgium and the UK.

I mostly posted on the Dutch side. My clumsy social skills back then, made me unpopular on this side of the site..

But when you click on my yellow wiggly tail and skip to page 1, you'll read the last remnants of the 2 Utrecht meetings, where we went out for dinner followed by a pub tour.

The 2nd meeting was december 2003 and the 3rd one was 6 november 2004.

None of the meetings were attended by Jogchem though. He rarely posted here back then. Maybe he didn't even know about the meetings..

So this forum used to flourish to the point where offline gatherings could be organised! In the early 2000s, each bug used the Internet for friendly communication, building their own worlds and meeting up in some city ...

Ouch, I now have the feeling that I'm visiting a place of interest.

To Sjeu
It was like that, Sjeu, 01 Nov 2023 12:15
the internet was pretty new for most and this forum was a place where people used to slow-chat and/or chat live in 'the sink' (chatroom design with a picture of a kitchen sink where your bug-avatar could buzz around and chat with other insects there. By just opening but not entering the sink you could lurk anonymously.) This page particularly was known for people sharing their greatest online finds to inspire others and as an invite for others to explore and share their online treasures too.

The dutch page helpt built Sjeu, 01 Nov 2023 12:26
some very close friendships. After the meetings, some people started visiting each other regularly in real life too. A few relationships have started from it and I recall the birth of the 1st 'nobodyhere' baby (parents met here online).

Everyone was very welcome to join. The regular crowd would hang around here daily, it was the pre-social media era and a lot of life was shared here. Some became like online characters though.. I really liked it here (I have filled about 84 pages of splats).

The vibe was about being frank en witty Sjeu, 01 Nov 2023 13:25
I used to love it when a post would have a response from the others. The most beautiful interactions could occur.

Once there was a woman named Emmepem and she made a website where she collected the nicest splat-interactions from Nobodyhere.com.

Also a man who called himself Poppendief back then, had made a website where we where invited to post our poetry. Because a lot of us loved to write it. Sometimes someone started some lines and then others would co-create a poem, just on the spot.

That time Sjeu, 01 Nov 2023 14:04
I was one of the youngest visitors but I admired how some here were very candid and others were very humorous and some could at times be very cheeky. A lot of creative people where attracted to come here. Everyone was very respectful of idiosyncrasies and quirks. Only rarely someone was to be called out for Bs.

Being very shy and traumatized by my past and irl. circumstances, this place helped me to open up and grow more social skills. A warm and steady playground for which I'm very grateful.

I also visit regularly mostly because of interesting people I meet here, though far fewer than at the height of its prosperity. But there are no regrets, because it flourished before I came into the world (laughs).

People come and go... Like the cycle of seasons. Every year the same, every year different. I'm curious where so many people with real souls and creativity are now.

So you asked that question because our new friend mentioned the sink, and the sink page existed as a chat room a long time ago... Woah!

Although I can't understand Dutch, I regularly visit the Dutch version of the forum and use the translator to guess what you are talking about, but the words often fail to make sense. :-/

The atmosphere there is indeed very intimate (the warmth could still be felt by me through unknown language).

To Sjeu
A woman called Tess Sjeu, 01 Nov 2023 13:00
attended one of the nobody-here-meetings in Utrecht, therefor I asked :- )

The dutch side has only very few visitors left. There is one die hard inhibitor though and he's from Belgium. He has been here none stop under many names. I call him Sjoki but it's derived from Iwan Sjokottov. In the past he actually made hundreds of bug-characters, each with their own perks. 3 are left. He stayed loyal all these years and to me this felt kind of healing. To know someone is waiting for your return..

Jogchem made this suit out of buttons and he'd send a button to anyone who would make a picture with that button. I have often tagged it to my clothes, very proud to wear one. Unfortunately I lost it but my picture is still up in the gallery. Could you guess which one is me?

Uhhh...Based on my shallow knowledge of you so far, and a bit of weird intuition, I think it's the lady in the light blue denim jacket .... Can't be too sure.

There were a few others that also felt likely to be you, but she had the best smile, so... :P

Ha good try! Sjeu, 01 Nov 2023 13:08
My picture is in black and white, it's down below and I'm kissing a senior cow. Asked the farmer who owned her, in advance to make a picture with her and later photo-shopped the button on the cows ear-mark so to not unnecessarily stress her out.

My first step was to eliminate anyone who doesn't have a badge on their shirt, because you said 'I have often tagged it to my clothes, very proud to wear one'.

That's a cute picture! Especially the hair. I love the braid.

I was in my very early 20's there and had this experimental phase with my hairdo. Here it was bleached :- )
